It was a cool October evening when Clinton Road Elementary School held their annual Welcome Back BBQ. Students decorated the fields, some playing on the playground, while others enjoyed some backyard games, such as Cornhole and Connect Four. Comsewogue’s very own DJ Bienz made sure that family members of all ages could enjoy the party, with a variety of music ranging from Moana to Harry Styles.
The biggest hit of the night had to have been the visitors from the Terryville Fire Department, and Suffolk County Police Department, who allowed students to explore the inside of a firetruck and a squad car. The kids loved getting to explore what it was like inside the two emergency vehicles. After their exploration, students were able to receive their very own balloon animal.
Just when it didn’t seem like it could get much better, some of Clinton Elementary’s favorite teachers joined students for some good old fashioned "Cotton Eye Joe" line dancing and a conga line. DJ Bienz even led a game of Spongebob-themed ring toss! After a long evening of fun and dancing, what better way to wrap up the night than with some delicious burgers, hot dogs, and chips.
After a tough year and a half, it is just really great to see kids back to doing what they know best - having fun! It is safe to say that students are already looking forward to next year’s annual Back to School BBQ!
